it was misunderstood, i can see their point in that, and it is a good song. read the front of the album, it explains it. but i think some people just took it to far. people always take songs to far. look at how many bands have been blamed for causing suicide.

    Hey Manbag,

I think u'll have to read the lyrics of the song... There are some bits considered racist or controversial at least... I always thought the song made fun of rednecks as well as the groups mentioned like immigrants and "faggots" ... etc.

I think the song's lyrics are more like a role play where they bag pretty much the whole topic...

    By the way,

despite coming from a Muslim background and being an immigrant myself I never found the lyrics offensive as I never took them seriously - Simply because GNR toured the world before GNR Lies and they always appreciated other cultures (and the other way around) ...

    "...Like start some mini Iran..."

It's still one of my favourite songs... although it shocks me from time to time - (It was eventually scraped from the LP)

The song was completely misunderstood. Like Ash said, they tried to explain it on the front cover and even apologised to people it might offend in advance... but people chose to ignore all of that. It's also my favourite song on that album.

Yeah, On my copies of both UYI cds, its says:

This album contains language which some listeners may find objectionable. They can F?!* off and buy something from the New Age section.

one of my favorite songs. There's a lot of truths in this song, even if some are somewhat half-assed, and one-sided.
