Slash says Velvet Revolver's return is years away

Speaking with Vorterix.com, Slash states: "Duff's got his own thing, I've got my thing, Matt's got his thing... Next year I definitely will make another Slash record with Myles Kennedy and go on tour. So at least for the next couple of years, nothing is going to be happening with Velvet Revolver that I can see 'cause I'll be focused on this. And after that's over, if something happens... I'm just not really concerning myself with it right now. We had all these different guys try out, all really good singers, but nobody has fit the thing, so, you know, I have to move on."

It's not very surprising that this happened but at least we've got some final words about it and now we can put VR to rest.

Even if they find a new singer, I don't think it can be VR anymore anyway

Well, it's a shame. Such a great band. And I totally agree - it can't be VR anymore. Been far too long.

Damn, what a shame. I miss Velvet Revolver. Dont care what you guys say, both records were awesome, and the shows were fuckin' cool too.

I never really was a big fan of Velvet Revolver, but they did have some nice songs. I hope Slash & co will find a good singer and go on making great rock music for many years to come.

Honestly.. V.R was pretty cool, I saw them live...bought their records, but I feel like they sort of milked it and need to move on to new and better things. This doesn't really bother me at all.

Sidenote... I never actually bought Slash's solo album. Hm.

interesting... Yeah I had that a few times with other albums. If I feel like listening to something, I go to youtube, listen and never end up buying.
That's mainly the case for current chart stuff that I know I won't be listening to in 3 months, though

Look. Slash's album came out in a very turbulent period of my life. Finals week. And then I made deans list. And then...well you know.

Honestly I can't even remember when it was released. I'll buy it, sometime. Or maybe I won't buy it, because the school I just got accepted into costs $30 k a year. Generally I stopped buying music when Spotify was introduced and I inherited my parent's super awesome vinyl collection.

I wish Spotify was available here. I used it so much in the UK... But it's also the worst thing that happened to the music industry since Napster. Their licensing model just doesn't add up at all and the artists get next to nothing from streaming.

Not that I feel bad for the music industry because they have taken so much money for NOTHING in the past and they still haven't learned their lesson... Now that I think about it, universities and the music industry have a lot in common...

    Agreed & agreed.

The school is giving me a pretty awesome amount in sholarships though and this thing saying that I know something about shit, never had the music industry give me anything.

Spotify rules.. nobody cares that the artists can't make money from it, streaming is the future. Artists have to take a leaf out of Trent Reznor's or Radioheads book and start giving digital music away for free, and charge for more personalised "special" physical copies, CD's, Vinyls, stuff with artwork etc.. Merchandising is where the money is.
