I love Promise. Sounds more like Cornell's solo stuff than Soundgarden, but as I love all of that that doesn't involve Timbaland, I don't think that's a bad thing.
Katy just mentioned that if Watch This wasn't an instrumental, Cornell should've been the one singing. -

Won't hear a new song until Monday, tomorrow 'By The Sword' will be uploaded to amazon as it's next on the tracklist.
Monday - Gotten (feat. Adam Levine)
Tuesday - Watch This (feat. Dave Grohl) ..but we already have this.
Wednesday - Album released in Japan, so we'll have the opportunity to hear them all by then. -

Didn't hear the connection myself, but I suppose you could argue that way. On the whole the differences are much too pronounced if you ask me though.

Ah! And Promise sounds really cool. It's a growing-up-song from the beginning to the end.
and to fill the rest: Sahara reminds me of an mötley crüe song - classic rock! paradise city is a little bit strange but familiar from the live versions. nice interpretation! (better than the SCOM thing from Big Daddy Soundtrack) mother maria is nice. lovely melody and perfect for the benefit album I think. Did I mentioned Watch This as an amazing riff, jam, instrumental song?!? can't wait to get this record!!!!!!!

slightly different question:
The iTunes version in the UK has 14 tracks (the last 4 missing). Is that the case for every iTunes store version? The Alice Cooper song missing seems to be a pretty big deal...
